Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree of English literature. Mitchell began as a radio and TV reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976 she became a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). Then, she became a Washington general correspondent to NBC News two years later. The year 1981 saw her begin reporting on the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She became chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell is a regular on the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell was a panelist in the 1988 presidential debates with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) presented Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her work in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to cover White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan in office from 1981 to 1988. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of important stories including the Iran Contra scandal, budget tax reforms and the arms control. Mitchell travelled together with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan many times to attend summits and discuss issues like that of the Iran Contra scandal.
